Many camps teach how to make a fire, what to do in an emergency, and how to paddle a canoe. Some camps teach how to ride a horse, how to dribble, shoot, and rebound a basketball, and how to be a good cheerleader. Other camps teach the performing arts and the three Rs of education. The NLLC teaches all of those things, plus the fourth R of education, namely resourcefulness — how to live up to potential and lead the best possible American life. As the “textbook helper,” the NLLC develops the essential real-life skills for which the school does not have much time.
